Let's Talk About
I am 100% in agreement with the benefits of exfoliating this is my favorite skin care regimen, the method of sloughing away the outer most skin surface (dead skin) exfoliation is a skin care ritual that dates back hundreds of years, In the middle ages Egyptians used wine as a chemical exfoliant.
What happens when you exfoliate? .........New skin cells are created in the skin's lower layer, the dermis. With time, cells migrate to the surface of the skin and become more acidic and they die(this occurs about every 30 days) and become saturated with keratin(keratin, protects the skin from the outside elements). A side of effect of aging, and after menopause in women, the natural process of skin erosion becomes uneven, which gives skin a dry and rough look. Exfoliation removes the outer layer to reveal the newer skin beneath.
Thank God for this shedding of the outer layer, because it does our skin a favor and unclogs pores, keeps skin clean, and helps reduce acne breakouts. Remember, exfoliation should always be done after cleansing the skin. Ladies let us not forget our men, I know I have heard men say I don't do that(exfoliate) that's for women, well you just tell him, exfoliation is important for men because it exposes the hair follicles, allowing a better shave .As much as I love it, it is possible to overly exfoliate, which dries and irritates the skin. Remember the face is the part of the body most sensitive to exfoliation. We all know that dry skin can lead to wrinkle development. The Natural You "Scrumptious Scrub"s are great for exfoliating.
Remember beautiful skin starts from the inside, what you put into your body shows on the outside. It is very important to maintain a well balanced diet ,eating 5 or 6 small meals daily this not only controls your weight, but maintains healthy skin, that is noticeably by a natural glow, elasticity, and the skin's ability to regenerate itself. I know we can all testify that when we were younger you could get a small scar or scratch and a week or two later you can't pinpoint the spot where the scar was, that is because as kids we are more active running jumping and playing which creates exercising without thought, this is a great form of detoxification and of one way to promote healthy cell regeneration.
If you are exercising regularly you are more than likely sweating and sweating is good because sweat carries toxins to the skin surface, which is where a great skin cleanser comes into play, soap would not be a great source of cleanser because soap today typically are not soap but are detergents. They are are less expensive and easier to manufacture, because the skin on the face is more sensitive then that on the hand and other parts of the body soap has a more drying effect and therefore is more damaging than beneficial.
